Elbo Glass

Not on this page. Elbo is a glass artist, but what is stocked here is the object line built around his dinosaur series: vinyl and plush figures, storage jars, ashtrays, dab mats and keychains. The artwork is the through line, not the medium.

Edition size and signature. The eight and ten inch figures run in editions of 250 and the twelve inch blue raptor in an edition of 100, and every box is individually signed and numbered by hand. Several also carry the dinosaur name and build year on the figure.

One hundred thirty six dollars for an eight inch, one hundred eighty two for a ten inch, and two hundred seventy three for the largest pieces. They are case items priced accordingly, and one facing does the job.

The cheap end. Keychains at nine dollars, storage jars from eleven, and ashtrays at twelve to fourteen are the items a customer adds without thinking. The figures build the display, but they are not what pays for the shelf.

UV protective black glass, in 250 and 500 gram sizes, with a seal that keeps odor in. One version carries a collaboration print with GZ1. They are the most practical thing in the line and the easiest to reorder.

Material. One is a four by four ceramic at twelve dollars with deep holders cut for cones and enough mass to take heat. The other is silicone at just under fourteen, effectively unbreakable, and better suited to a customer who moves it around.

Two. Small runs eleven inches and large runs nineteen, priced from around thirty six to seventy three dollars. Each one carries an original artist tag, which is what separates it from a generic plush toy on a shelf.

Together, and behind glass. A signed edition loses its argument sitting on an open shelf next to consumables. Group the figures in one case with the artwork visible, then run the jars, ashtrays and keychains on the counter in front of it.

Start at the bottom of the line. Keychains, jars and ashtrays work in any shop on their own merits and cost very little to try. If those move on the artwork, the figures become a reasonable next order rather than a gamble.
